SEPT 26 - 29 2003 Trip

2003 LOYALIST FORTS AND BATTLEFIELDS TOUR
OF LAKE CHAMPLAIN AND UPPER HUDSON VALLEY

Edward Kipp and George Anderson are leading a four-day 2003 trip to the Forts and Battlefields of Lake Champlain and the Upper Hudson Valley September 26-29, 2003. Catherine Tanser Douglas Grant and Noreen Stapley are assisting with registrations. The tour will visit Fort Chambly, the Fort George Battlefield, Fort William Henry, Fort Ticonderoga, Crown Point, the Hubbarton Battlefield, the Bennington Battle Monument and Bennington Battlefield, Fort Edward, the Rogers Island Visitor Site, the Jane McCrea Burial site, the Battle of Chateagauy Historic Site, the Saratoga Monument and Saratoga National Battlefield Park. A stop will also be made at the Tuttle Antiquarian Books. This bookshop has numerous family genealogies and local town and county histories of just about every American State. Reenactor Brigadier Paul Loding of the King's 53rd Regiment of Foot will address the Loyalists on the Saturday Night during the trip. His topic will be Major Christopher Carleton 1780 Raid of the Upper Hudson Valley. About 345 Loyalists from the King's Loyal Americans, King's Rangers, King's Royal Regiment of New York, Claus's Rangers and other Loyalist units participated in this raid. The bus will leave from Ottawa and and also pick up people in Cornwall, Ontario before proceeding towards Lake Champlain and the Upper Hudson River Valley. Any trip surplus will be contributed to the UELAC 2014 Centennial Project and the Bernice Flett Scholarship Fund. The cost is $450.00 per person for double accommodation and $630.00 per person for single accommodation. This includes the bus, hotels and admissions to all sites. Meals and extra travel health insurance are not included. The full deposit will now confirm your reservation. For a participant who have made an initial deposit, the balance will be payable July 1, 2003. We are asking you to carry a Canadian passport. Presently there are 51 people booked for the trip. There is room for four more registrations since the bus size has been increased from 47 to 55 seats.
