Trinity Harrier Invitational
Port Hope, Ontario
September 22nd, 2004
The TISS Pirates Cross Country Team had excellent results at the annual Harrier meet on the campus of Trinity College. TISS captured the overall championship with 2 team firsts, 2 seconds, 1 third, and a fifth. TISS retained the Bear against over 40 schools from all over Central and Eastern Ontario. Almost 80 Pirates ran tremendously in the heat and attacked Mount Trinity with the heart of a champion. Five team and individual medals were the result and it made it one of our most successful trips to Trinity ever.
The highlight of the meet was the performance of both Midget teams. The boys team were led by Kyle Milks (1st), Will McFall (2nd), and Jacob Smith (4th), who came within a few feet of sweeping the individual medals! Mark Ferguson ran exceptional to place 12th in a very large field to bring a team score of 19. The Midget Girls were also successful as Charlotte Larry (3rd), Carley Fox (11th), Stacey Locke ( 18th) , and Katie Lirette (24th) led the team to first with a score of 33.
Both junior teams look much stronger this year as they captured silver medals. Jenn Wynands ran to 2nd place overall to pace the junior girlss. Matt Leeder remained undefeated in Canada by running to first and leading his team to a surprise silver place finish.
The Senior teams also had very strong results. The 23 member Senior Girls Team led by Erica Hirtle, Lesley Poole, Caryna Baumtrog, and Jill Davies captured Bronze in a very talented field. The Senior Boys led by Geoff Millard and Scott Burley placed 5th in one of the most competitive fields at Trinity in years. Shane Doxtater and Robbie Taylor also had top 4 finishes for TISS.
