Loyalist Days and Repatriation of Col. Edward Jessup's Cartridge Case
Early August was a busy time for the Colonel Edward Jessup Branch UELAC in Prescott. We were asked to contribute items for a Loyalist display at the Forwarders’ Museum. Information cards have now been placed with these items. [Thanks Don G.]
On the Saturday of Loyalist Days we had a display in a tent [thanks Barbara for the tent]. Costumed members spent the day talking to interested people. We carried our banner in the parade down Main Street.
On Sunday the repatriation of Colonel Edward Jessup’s gun cartridge case to Fort Wellington was celebrated by the branch. Diane Brown is to be highly commended for all her hard work in making this event happen. During the ceremony in the Fort, Gary Jessup, a direct descendant of Edward Jessup spoke to the assembled group. Cake and punch added to the festivities. [thanks Diane,Barry Brown and Don C. for assisting there]
The “House” teams are working on canvassing the remaining areas of the two counties for our book project.
