The Loyalist Burial Markers

2005

Origin of Markers

As chairman of the cemetery committee, Don Galna thought it would be a  great idea to have a UE grave marker at the graves of our Loyalist ancestors.  The idea actually came from Brockville's Oakland cemetery where each veteran gets a special grave marker.  His first use of this concept elsewhere was for his sister, Lois' husband, Doug, where he had one made for his grave in the family plot in Spencerville.  He had attempted to get a cast marker for Doug but the samples were of very poor quality, so thought of a sign instead and went to D&D to see what they could do and it turned out to be excellent.  Then the jump to the UE marker using the same process was quite simple.  They are made from aluminium and are attached to a tent peg which is inserted into the ground.

The branch has these for sale for anyone wanting to honour their Loyalist Ancestor(s).
