Family History:
William Scott, and his two brothers, David and John, came to Augusta township in 1783. He had two sons, Joseph and Francis. He operated a grist and sawmill powered by Big Creek from 1804 to about 1815. By 1879, he had over one hundred descendants living near by.
The first Methodist class meetings held in Upper Canada were held in his barn (1785) where the Hecks had established services. During cold weather, the meetings were held in Timothy Hodge’s large house on C3 Lot 5.
