UPDATE FROM THE PRESIDENT’S  Keyboard

Several members of the executive spent Saturday August 7th at Fort Wellington in Prescott as part of Loyalist Days  We appreciate thr hospitality of the Town of Prescott who shared their tent with us.

Wiltse cemetery continues to be well cared for by our student volunteer, Seth Wilcox.  The Township of Athens has trimmed the brush along the road and a new sign is  being prepared to be placed along County Road 5.  Stone will be put on the road this fall.  We thank Mayor John Conley for ensuring that this work is being done.

Research into the background of the properties on which the houses to be included in our 2014 book is underway.  Anyone with knowledge of land records would be welcomed on the team.

Since we have surpassed last years total of members [110%] we received  a monetary reward from Dominion UELAC.

The annual fee was raised by $5.00 at the 2010 Annual Meeting to cover increased costs of producing the “Gazette’.  The Branch will be making a decision on raising our share which at present is only $5.00 per member per year.  This amount does not cover the cost of producing and mailing our branch newsletter and is our only source of revenue.

Notice of our Charter Meeting on October 16th is else where on our site.  Don’t miss this one – the entertainment will be priceless and the food at the Snowmobile Club is always superb.

The Conference 2011 committee is meeting regularly in preparation for that event.  These will be exciting days.  Anyone who wishes to be involved please let us know.
