Perth's 6th " Last Night of the Proms"

Victoria Day Holiday, Monday, May 19, 2003

St. James' Anglican Church, Perth

The Brockville Infantry Company (The Redcoats)-1862

Our very own Brockville re-enactment troop of approximately one dozen redcoats stepped off from the basin at 7:00 p.m. to march up Drummond St. hill and performed period military drills on the street in front of the church.  They fired a salute in honour of Queen Victoria, who observed them from the church steps.

Also in attendance was Sir John A. MacDonald and wife.

Following the parade, everyone made their way into the church to await the entrance of the Queen, accompanied by her honour guard, the Prime Minister and her ladies who proceeded down the aisle to Purcell's Trumpet Tune played by the Perth Citizen Band.

After the Welcome, Introduction and an Address by Sir John A. Macdonald, the marvelous festivities began.
