An Introduction to Victorian
Photographic Formats for the Genealogist
One of the great pleasures of working on your
family tree, is locating old family photos- the older the better! This
presentation gives you an opportunity to become familiar with the most common
formats of the 19th century and at what time such photos were produced, which
could help to pinpoint the timing of that faded
image you have of great-great-Aunt Penelope! He will bring lots of examples,
and the audience is encouraged to bring older photographs too.
Peter Johnson is currently President of the UELAC,
but has had various positions including Branch President, co-Dominion
Genealogist, and magazine Editor. He has been in the UELAC since
1982, but his membership in OGS goes back to 1974. His other
related interest is a 30 year involvement in Military Reenactment.
His Loyalist roots are largely in the Bay of Quinte
area, but he has also done research in the Toronto area, Georgian Bay, and
even Newfoundland. Recently he discovered a family link in Edwardsburgh
Township.
He lives on a piece of the family farm
near Trenton. He and his wife Angela have 4 children, with just one at home
now.
We had a wonderful turnout of approximately 45 people
to hear this very interesting program.
