ABOUT RIPNET : History

About RipNET
History

RipNET was founded in 1994 as an arm of The Brockville Recorder and Times, a daily newspaper serving Brockville and was owned and operated for more than 100 years by the Grant family.

The Recorder and Times was sold to Sun Media in 1998.  Kingsley Grant stayed on to manage RipNET.  In April 2002, Kingsley and Hunter Grant re-purchased RipNET and thereby returned RipNET to local ownership and management.

RipNET is a pioneer in providing Internet access, which began with dial-up and later evolved to high speed DSL.  Today, in addition to its dial-up and DSL users,  RipNET operates one of North America’s largest fixed wireless broadband networks.  RipNET uses 3.5GHz licensed spectrum to provide high speed service across Leeds Grenville to areas where other types of broadband services are not available.

RipNET remains committed to its community and to excellence in service – this commitment has helped RipNET become the ISP market leader in Brockville and Leeds Grenville.
