E-Mail Setup Outlook Express 5.0/6.0:

 

1.      From the menu bar, click "Tools", and then click "Accounts"

2.      Click on "Add" then select "Mail” the account setup wizard will now start

3.      Enter your "Display Name" (This is normally your real name; display name is what will appear on the mail you send). Click Next

4.      Enter your Email Address (i.e. johndoe@ripnet.com) and click “Next”

5.      The incoming mail server is a POP3 server.  The incoming (POP3) server is pop.ripnet.com and outgoing (SMTP) mail server is mail.ripnet.com. Click Next

6.      Click "Log on Using" and enter your e-mail address in the field, and enter the password in the proper field. (Note: be sure to use lowercase letters for all entries). Click Next

7.      Enter your real name in the "Internet Mail Account Name" field and click Next

8.      On the "Choose Connection Type" page, select "Connect using my phone line", and click “Next”

9.      On the "Dial-Up Connection" page, select "Use an Existing Dial Up Connection", then select your connection to RipNET which should appear in the window below. (Note: the connection name will depend on what you named your connection. Click Next

10.    Click Finish, you are now ready to start sending and receiving email

11.    Click on "Add" then select "News..."

12.    Your "Display Name and Email Address" should already appear; click on Next when each of those screens appears

13.    For NNTP servers enter news.ripnet.com and then click “Next”

14.    Enter what you would like in the "Friendly Name" and click “Next”

15.    On the "Choose Connection Type" page, select "Connect using my phone line, and click “Next”

16.    On the "Dial-Up Connection" page, select "Use an Existing Dial-Up Connection", and then select your connection to RipNET which should appear in the window below. Click “Next”, then click “Finish”
