| To have a healthy society, where all children
realize they have full potential in Bungoma District. |

To improve the quality of life for the deprived
children, their families and the whole community
at large towards sustainable livelihood. Through
a process that unites people across cultures and
ads meaning and value to their lives by: Enabling
deprived children, their families and their communities
to meet their basic needs and increase their ability
to participate in and benefit from their societies.
- Fostering relationships to increase understanding
and unity among people of different cultures/countries. |

BFHP was established in 1982, as a CBO to provide
services to orphan children from poor families in
terms of basic needs/Education. The overall outlook
of the whole set up was viewed on long-term service
which created need to improve the Socio-Economic
status of the respe-
ctive individual poor families especially the widows
towards sustainable development. The organization
was blessed and got sponsorship programme from Christian
children fund (CCF) which is an International NGO.
The child spnsorship programme started as a relief
project with two hundred children but to date over
4,000 children with 2300 families benefited from
the organization. Many children went up to University
level, Colleges, vocational training centers, Families
got dairy cows, shelter/land. After 15 years in
operation 1998 (CCF) moved away from western Region
to North Eastern sides where there's a lot of pastoralism
and hunger. The office was abandoned because of
lack of fund, but there are more orphans than before. |

In the year 2000 Ms. Florence N. Ndukuyu was
blessed with a Scholarship to Coady International
Institute Canada, she has International Diploma
in Community based Development. Florence is a
former Project Socialworker who has worked with
BFHP since 1983. It was this time that she thought
of reviving BFHP due to rise of AIDS orphans Mushrooming
in the district of 1200,000 people. The main course
of the spread of HIV/AIDS in Bungoma District
is on the Western part of the country,it boarders
with Kenya Uganda
There's a great north road where trailers (tracks)
cross to Uganda, Burundi & Rwanda. The town
being on the highway has contributed to the spread
of thePandemic. There are some other reasons like
Socio-Cultural issues, poverty in the area. The
prevalence rate is now between 25-30% the people
who are mostly affected are youth and women. Through
this initiative we have thought of reviving Bungoma
Family Helper project to assist the AIDS Orphans,
other vulnerable children and their caregivers
towards sustainable livelihood. To know more about
the activities, you can visit AIDS ORPHAN ASSISTANCE
