Disable call waiting

Printer Friendly    Email to Friend

1.       Call Waiting is still the Number One problem with disconnects. If you have Call Waiting you must disable it by dialing *70,, (the commas are a half second pause that will allow the dialtone to come back) before the phone number to dial RipNET.

2.       You may not realize that you have Call Waiting as Bell will turn it on randomly in an area of town without you paying for it or telling you.

3.       Even if you think you do not have it, try picking up the phone and dialing *70,, and see if you get two beeps and a dial tone. If you do, you have Call Waiting.

4.       If you get two beeps and a busy signal then this is good you do not have Call Waiting.

5.       To disable add *70,, in front of the phone number.

6.       The easiest way to do this is to go to My Computer

7.       Then to Dialup Networking

8.       Then click once on the RipNET Icon (or whatever you called the icon)

9.       Then go to File and down to Properties. When the phone number comes up just type in the *70,, before the 498-4638 or 275-1393 if you are in Smiths Falls.
