Modern Modems will work better with Software Compression turned off:

1. Double-click My Computer on your desktop
2. Double-click Dial up networking
3. Then right click on RipNET
4. Then left click on Properties
5. The click on server Settings
6. Make sure all of the top three boxes are NOT checked
7. And only the tcp/ip option is checked at the bottom
8. Then Hit OK
