56K Modems

1.       56k Modems with Old V.90 code are not compatible with the new code on our system. Please keep the software code for your modem up to date. We have links to the manufactures at www.ripnet.com under the support area.

2.       If you go to Control Panels on your computer and then to Modems it should tell you the type of modem. We have links to the Lucent LT winmodem, Rockwell HCF modem, and the Motorola SM56k modem.

3.       The Motorola modem still does not have good code available yet but the most recent code will at least make it work better than it normally does. If you run old code on your 56k modem then you will have difficulty not just with disconnect but also with getting connected at all and also slow download speed.

4.       Follow the download instructions word for word for your modem type. If you feel you are not advanced enough in updating drivers for your computer please feel free to bring it in to the office and we will load them for you. (No Charge!) we just need your computer (and modem if it is external) we do not need your monitor, keyboard, mouse or power cords.
